Technologies and production flow

Reception of raw material
Spacious yard arranged where round wood is stored and preserved, as a raw material used in the manufacture of timber. Technological sorting, log marking, log washing and log piling are processes which comply to the rules implemented in accordance with quality, environmental management system, healthy and safety standards.
Debiting
Cutting is the technological process by which the log is transformed into timber of different thicknesses. Hardwood SRL uses the complete green processing of the timber, edging, cutting at the ends, removing knots and other defects that do not correspond. The whole processing line is fully automated which leads to a good increase in the machinability efficiency of the timber. The 2 resulting quality classes: A, AB, regardless of length and width, mostly cover the specific demand on the local and international market.
Timber flow
The technological flow for the production of timber respects the norms in force, ensuring a viable traceability during the obtaining of the finished product. Each log within Hardwood SRL is received, cleaned, measured, registered, assigned a bar code and sent to debit to obtain timber. Timber, in turn, follows an automated and controlled flow within Hardwood SRL according to each request, processes such as: steaming, antisepticization, drying, packaging and measurement for delivery gives the finished product the certainty of a high quality carefully monitored by our specialists.
Veneer flow
The stages through which the log is transformed into veneer are not few: length cutting, plasticizing, peeling, cutting, drying, cutting to size, packaging and labeling are flow processes carefully monitored by our specialists to obtain the best quality to satisfy current requirements.
Steaming the timber
Steaming is a hydrotechnical treatment with superheated steam that is applied to the wood, ensuring a uniform coloration, the reduction of internal stresses and the printing of special physico-chemical properties. The automated Secal technology (made in Italy) that Hardwood SRL benefits from ensures that all the processes carried out in the steam chambers with a total capacity of 120 m3 / batch are controlled step by step with the help of process computers.
Mould treatment
Steamed beech timber is treated within 24 hours of removal from the steam chambers by immersion in concrete basins with antiseptic biocide solutions that ensure preventive and combative protection of wood against wood-eating insects, including termites, and the attack of fungi that leads to wood rot or mold.
Kiln Dried and Air Dried
Drying aims to reach the equilibrium moisture of the wood, then it is the most stable dimension and the probability of cracks is very low. Dry wood has different humidity depending on the field where it is to be used, for example: from 6-8% for acoustic musical instruments, 8-12% for furniture, up to 20% in constructions.
Hardwood SRL performs the forced drying of the wood using as a process the conventional drying with a monthly capacity of ~ 2000 m3 of timber / batch. Depending on the initial and final humidity of the timber, its thickness, the capacity can vary between 1800-2000 m3 / month.
